#CAS09 There was nothing particularly spectacular about today's introduction of the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO. They rolled out a couple cars, received a rousing response from a group of SHO enthusiasts imported for the reveal and called it a day.
There was no revving of the 365-horsepower twin-turbo V6, or videos of the car burning its tires off the rims. Understandable, really, given that it probably doesn't sound all that mean, and its standard all-wheel-drive setup means it can't really do a burnout without sacrificing the halfshafts.
Still looks good, though, and when it goes on sale later this year it should be one of Ford's best cars in a long time -- even if it can't do a burnout.

as the former owner of a '95 SHO, I am warily excited for this car. The AWD makes me pause, (and of course the lack of say....the stick found in the Mustang GT anyone?) but everything else looks to be in the same vein as the 89-95 models. I want to see further examination of these cars.

Too big, too heavy, too auto, too expensive, not enough SHO.

Looks like there are no paddles for the automatic...
But pretty cool car nonetheless.

nevermind there are paddles i can't read.
"Too Big"...
The new Taurus is long 202.9" inches on the outside, but pretty darn small on the inside, 102.2 cu ft. (Compare 2009: 108 cu ft.)
Mazda6 101.9 cu ft, and has MORE legroom than the new 2010 Taurus!
2010 Taurus 57.9" Shoulder room? Accord 58.2".
Overall the interior of this car falls inline with the current midsized sedans on the market - Camry/Accord/Mazda6.
The Fusion falls inline with small midsizes, like the Malibu. All Japanese nameplate midsizers are larger.
Weight is unpublished. I wonder... it could be light since they claim a pretty darn quick 0-60...

I think this cars front end reminds me of my wifes 2002 Accord. Look it up. I think Edmunds enjoyed this design as well.

Probably one of fords best cars in a loooooooong time, but i think ford is a little out of its league offering cars "starting at" 38k. That seems like Lincoln territory. Maybe ford wants to become a premium-ish brand ala Volvo.

If they dropped a solid 200 pounds of weight over the regular Taurus and gave it one hell of a transmission, I could see this car actually being a real performance model in the vein of an Audi S6. Though 365 ponies doesn't seem like it would cut it for a performance model... i'll have to reserve judgement for later.
