You, Too, Can Be a 2011 Ford Fiesta Test Driver

2011fordfiesta3dr.jpg

Ford wants to put you behind the wheel of a 2011 Ford Fiesta one year early, but only if you are "hungry for adventure" and gifted with the "ability to craft a compelling story through video." As Inside Line news reported today, Ford has launched a contest that will give 100 American drivers the chance to live with a Fiesta, all expenses paid, for 6 months.

Of course, you can't just park the car in your garage and forget about it. You'll be busy going on secret assignments from "Ford Mission Control" that will no doubt take you into all the favored haunts of Ford's target demographic.

To enter, prospective contestants must upload a 2-to-5-minute video on YouTube explaining why they are deserving of this responsibility by March 19. Details are on fiestamovement.com.

Why waste time with all the PR BS? Just bring the Fiesta over now as a 2009. Why wait to 2011?

They will sell great.

I think thats a very cool looking little car, and I can't wait for Ford to bring it over. Its a shame its called Fiesta! What a terrible name/heritage to promote. I'm not suggesting that FIT or VERSA are better....but Fiesta is terrible.

I agree. When I see "Fiesta", I think "Ciesta". But the car looks great, and I hope it is a lot of fun. What are some possible new names? What about "Falcon"?

That is a good production question, how is it that they are able to have 100 of them but not thousands of them right now?

I can't imagine that the delay is just to ramp up excitement over them.

Ford has no Fiesta plant in North or South America.

Unless you want 100,000 of these high quality German engineering and construction products be shipped over from Germany yearly, Ford will need some time to tool up the Fiesta in the Americas.

So, who's up for high quality German engineering taking over the entire Ford product line in the USA?
Bring over the German engineered and built Mondeo, Focus, Fiesta!
Ford Germany is awesome!

I love Germany.
Every Germany builds is the best. Look at the great German companies of BMW, MB, Audi, Ford, Opel.
Ford should just lay off their entire low quality lazy USA staff and unify global design and manufacturing in Germany, where they have brains and sweat.

Well, according to Ford, this great product will be tooled at Cuautitlán, along side the Ford F-150s.

"Every Germany builds is the best. Look at the great German companies of BMW, MB, Audi, Ford, Opel."

LOL

I guess it depends how you define the best.

It's not hard for most people to come up with many examples of German cars that ended up costing the owners a fortune in repairs.

Europeans do make some cool cars and their small cars are better then the few we get here.

Their cars have character and are fun to drive (which I like) but aside from that, they are no better then American products and not even close to most Japanese products..... and I'm not American (or Japanese).

" is the best"

yep, with every purchase you get a new best friend. The service advisor at the dealer.

Ok so even in the UK, the top reliable cars are Honda, Mazda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, then Nissan.
But Ford Germany still placed 9th of 30!

There's worse things out there than German cars. For example, British cars.
