You know what? Putting a little hybrid and electric-car track in the basement of the Cobo Center is a cute idea. I mean they had the space, what with the Chinese manufacturers getting promoted to the upstairs this year.
Looked good, too. Some greenery. Some rocks. A fountain. It's a regular paradise. Except that here's the thing about nature: Sometimes it smells...bad. The place is packed with huge mounts of sour mulch. The vinegar stench has drifted up through the escalators into VW's otherwise pleasant booth and spread mustard-gaslike through that end of the hall.
Your green is polluting my environment, man. -- Daniel Pund, Senior Editor, Detroit

I think this stinking dirt pile filled with good intentions makes a nice metaphor for the whole "green" movement.

Whose display? Surprising they used mulch rather than vermiculite (latter has little odor, can be impregnated with plant food).
