Looking somewhat like a 911 stretch limo in profile, we've finally got "official" images (well, sort of as they were leaked over the weekend), of the new 4-door sports car from Porsche, the Panamera.

Available in either RWD or AWD, the Panamera will be powered by a 3.6-liter V6 putting out 300 hp, or a 400 hp 4.8-liter V8 Panamera S, or a top-dog Panamera (twin-) Turbo, with an estimated 500 hp. The new Porsche will use their new PDK dual-clutch gearbox. A diesel model is not currently in the cards, but a V6-hybrid variant with 350 hp will be offered later.

Whenever I see a side profile of the Panamera, I fear for the furture of Porche.

Hideous car, especially the rear end. I will die a little the day I see one of these on the road.

The front and side until the c pillar isn't bad but the hatchback is horrible.

I love Porsche but I'm shocked that they could find it in themselves to pen something uglier than the Cayenne.

I suppose I'm the only one in the "this is great!" camp.

These pseudo-coupes look great (if a little impractical) and I believe they have staying power. Say what you want, but I think this is leaps and bounds ahead of the Cayenne.

I am in the I think this car is beautiful camp. It doesn’t look like every other generic 4-door out there. I think it is very classy and I can’t wait to see them on the road.

Remember how ugly the original XKE coupe got when they added the 4-seat coupe?
Well, this is uglier.

I agree that it looks fine until you get to the C-pillar. Ugh.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it beautiful (especially the Pontiac Grand Prix rear door window treatment), but I think it looks better than the Cayenne. Regardless of anybody's style opinions, the Panamera will probably be another sales success for Porsche.

I honestly like the way it looks. Except that the sedan is supposed to be serious looking. Panamera's front end doesn't instill this feeling when you look at it. I just can't treat it seriously as I would an S class or 750IL. Good luck to porsche.

Hmmm - not bad looking as a package, but I don't know that the rear-end styling is going to go over well...at least it hasn't for Infiniti (EX35) or BMW (X6). Then again, both of those are "SUVs"...

It looks like a Chysler Crossfire rammed up a Cayman's tailpipe, resulting in a nice front, nice rear, and awkward profile.

The previous Infiniti G35 looks better, and I mention it because I always thought it resembled how Porsche may design a sedan.
