Chrysler-Nissan talks end

Ghosen 260.jpeg

Further evidence of the GM-Chrysler deal going through, is that Chrysler and Nissan have stopped their discussions. The reason being is that Chrysler would rather do their deal with GM. Neither Cerberus nor Nissan would comment on the situation.

So I guess the big question is can financing for this mega deal be be obtained, as that seems to be the biggest stumbling block at the moment.

I'm praying financing for this deal can't be obtained. This deal doesn't make any sense for either company. GM doesn't have the money to pay back loans now. They don't need another one to buy anything else. What they need to do is downsize more. They should take a page from Chrysler and go chopping block crazy. They're getting rid of Hummer. Why do they need Jeep? The only other assets Chrysler has are the trucks (GM's sell better) and the minivans (the only thing GM could really benefit from having, but the lambdas can still fill that void). GM also still needs to kill Buick so Chevy can move upscale a little in brand image (because there are still those out there who think Chevy isn't on level with Honda/Toyota). GM has too much cutting to do to buy anything else. Chrysler should have kept talking to Nissan, because there is so much less overlap. Really, Nissan could just put their grilles on the Caravan and Ram.

I wonder if Nissan will still get Dodge's trucks when all is said and done.
