Ford formally unveiled its first hybrid sedan at the L.A. show today, the 2010 Fusion Hybrid. Billing the Fusion Hybrid as "America's most fuel-efficient sedan," Ford says the new hybrid can go 700 city miles on a single tank of gas.
The Fusion Hybrid will also run up to 47 mph on battery power alone. That means you might actually make it out of a parking garage before the gas engine comes to life.
With a 39 mpg city EPA rating, the Ford now trumps the Toyota Camry Hybrid's 34 mpg average. -- Kelly Toepke, News Editor

I had no idea Ford was progressing so nicely. This will sell way better than the Volt. Of course that all depends on whether it's priced closer to a Camry hybrid or a Lexus hybrid.
Perhaps Mulally is earning those $20M bonuses after all.

This is the vehicle that should have gotten the hybrid powertrain first, as opposed to the Escape.

I just read an article here: http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081119/OPINION03/811190380/1364/AUTO04
saying that Ford will only make 25000 hybrid Fusions a year due to "production constraints".

UGLY. It's won't matter if there is a power pod from the Starship Enterprise under the hood of that. That is 3 steps backwards in the styling department. It's obvious in an effort to cut costs on the essembly of this car, the looks suffered badly.

Impressive sedan with styling derived from Australian Falcons.
Where did this come from?
