Taking a short coffee break from the Paris auto show coverage, I noticed Subaru sales for the year are up 4 percent. Yeah, like everyone else, they were down in September, but not nearly as bad as the other automakers. Much of the credit for the good overall sales are due to the new Impreza and Forester--especially the Forester. Maybe it's because I'm a Subie fanboy, but I'm seeing a lot of new Foresters on the road lately.

I have yet to see a new Forester on the road.
Subaru has finally updated the web site for 09 Impreza and WRX.
Local Subaru dealership is struggling. They had to move their dealership and invest a significant amount of money in the location to meet Subaru standards. The location was previously a Toyota dealership that was successful and the area is a very high traffic area.
Sales have not increased significantly and are not meeting the owners expectations or Subaru. They are surviving on sales of used cars.
I'm wondering how the individual regions are doing comparatively.
Impreza is good product. Maybe a bit overpriced.
I think the WRX is well positioned for 2009 and has been corrected to what it should have been at launch.
Legacy is good. Where the heck the Legacy Wagon? Bring it back!
Outback is good but the content and pricing need to be revised to offer more features at lower cost without having to step up to higher model and leather just to get a moonroof.
Tribeca I've never liked and I think it is redundant and not a good fit for Subaru.
Now would be a good time to have the Baja in the portfolio. AWD light truck with seating for four, good mpg, and handles the trips to the home improvement center and camping duties. Too bad it did not sell and too bad that Subaru put the awful body cladding on it.
Would I would most like to have Subaru offer is their excellent diesel engine. Now. Not 2011 or 1012.

I've seen a lot of Foresters on the road in the last couple weeks too. Sadly, I think a lot of people are buying the Impreza because of it's generic looks because they think it's a Corolla with AWD.

I've seen several '09 Foresters up here in Portland OR. The '09 is finally big enough in back to be really useful for families and people carrying things.
However, I've only seen the X model, and no XT's. What's wierd is the X drivers are far more aggressive than me and the XT. Then again, though its MPG could be better, it's nice to have the extra power when needed.

The 09 Forester is extremely popular here in Colorado. I see one of them daily. My mom has an 09 X LL Bean and our neighbor just got an 09 XT (which looks awesome in black). It is a very nice car, even if the interior needs work.

I just got a Legacy about a month ago. I never imagined myself in a Subaru but I could not find a better lease deal from any other manufacturer. Perhaps that has a lot to do with Subaru being up in sales. There are so many other more attractive cars I would have considered, but at the end of the day it's what comes out of your pocket that matters most.

Foresters are all over the place here in the DC area. I was commuting behind one today, a base model.
Though I prefer the tinted windows on our Limited model.
