LA Auto Show Preview: Toyota (Scion?) iQ

2010_toyota_iq_555.jpg

The Toyota Smart-fighter, the iQ, will be on display at the LA auto show. There is some speculation that it could be sold here under the Scion banner, and could come in under $15K.

The iQ is scheduled to go on sale in Europe and Japan in 2010. If it does come here the current 3-cylinder engine might be replaced with a more powerful 4-cylinder unit.

Great idea, they should do this for sure.

The way Scion value prices their models with a decent amount of content should give this model a pretty good price advantage over a ForTwo.

The inteior looks fresh without looking weird. It would put the yaris to shame.

At $15K, I think Toyota is asking far too much. Price it closer to an Aveo or a Smart and you'd probably hook some customers.

Good idea as a Scion, btw.

Depends whether the $15K is the base price or the loaded price. Like the Fit, Smart, Mini etc, I can see it have a cheap base price but a lot of expensive options for the trendy folk who want a new cool car but need to show how much they spent.

I gotta say I hate the Smart Fourtwo but the iQ looks great! Since it's based on a larger platform, it looks much more stable and realistic for the USA.
The interior looks really great! I think this will be a homerun.

This looks like an old Cinquecento! (Fiat 500).

"gotta say I hate the Smart Fourtwo but the iQ looks great! "

I think the Smart looks much better then the iQ.

I'll bet the iQ drives better though.
