LA Auto Show Preview: Nissan 370Z spy shots

Nissan 370Z.555.jpg

Set to debut at the LA auto show, images of a lightly camouflaged Nissan 370Z have been posted up on the Net. While similar in look to the current 350Z, closer examination indicates a more substantial change from that model. The fenders seem to be much more pronounced and the roof appears to have a more severe rake to it.

I heard the car lost about 150-200lbs which is certainly a good thing. On the contrary I'm not impressed with the VVEL 3.7L.

I really hope they can keep the price down on this one. My 350z was a bargain, it cost $26,500 new back in '03. There was nothing else like it for the money. But Zs have that tendency to price themselves out of most people's budgets after a redesign or two...

wow, anyone see the obvious photoshopping done for the last rear pic? they simply removed the tape and "guessed" the rest of the lights...look at the background cars and signs gone now too...lol wow

The upswept C-pillar seems to be a trend nowadays, but to be fair Nissan was among the first with the D-pillar on the original Murano, so it may be a trend they started.

If it's not the porker of it's predecessor, it should be a good drive. I've found the VQ's to be quite responsive, if a bit too linear.

Looks better than the GTR

This thing is hideous.
Just give us a stripped down steel body GT-R with a 2.5-liter 170-hp engine and budget plastic interior and econo low rolling resistance tires.

Looks good to me. I'm planning on buying a Camaro in a few years, but if GM doesn't make it this would be on my list if it was priced comparably. Then again, given the issues with the LT GT-R, the voided warranties for actually taping that performance, the disputed performance, I'm concerned about Nissan's treatment of its performance cars.

billt9...does anybody else want the car you just described? sounds like you preferred the "Iron Duke" version Firebirds from the early 80's...

Oh ya people do want an Iron Duke GT-R! I would even recommend a 2.0 cylinder I4 in it. BMW 318s come with 2.0-liter I4s. Audi A4 1.8 TFSI comes with 1.8-liter I4s. In fact, I should suggest putting a 1.7-liter in it just to beat Audi. And boy, will 35 mpg sell!

I hate the looks of the current Z but this one looks fantastic. I love the interior of the 370 (the big weak spot on the current one).

It looks very Porsche Cayman from the rear. It's a great redo. The only missteps are the headlight/taillights. The new Maxima style just is too finicky and will make the car look dated quickly.

Otherwise, nice

hondacura, I'm sure you're impressed with TL's measly 300 something hp and probably even Pilot's cylinder deactivation feature.
