Latest word from AutoObserver is that the deal between Chrysler LLC and Getreg Transmission on developing a dual-clutch automated manual transmission may be over--and not in a good way. Reportedly Chrysler has instituted a lawsuit against Getreg. Chrysler alleges that Getreg misrepresented themselves in their ability to get the necessary financing for the $455-million joint venture.

Chrysler will only distance themselves from suppliers by doing this. Suing a company for lacking liquidity during a massive recession does not win you brownie points.

Getrag probably thought it was true at the time, so this is uncalled for. They admit they were shocked.

This is disappointing for me as the larger dual-clutch unit - the 7-speed 79REM - was slated for Dodge Ram HD trucks behind the 6.7L Cummins, replacing the Benz G56 6-speed manual. I was looking forward to that driveline for my next Ram dually.
