2009 Ford F-150s starting to show up at dealers

2009FordF_150 260.jpg

If you recall, Ford had delayed the introduction of the all-new F-150 by several months, hoping to ship them for November deliveries. This was due to the horrific truck market. Ford needed to clean out inventory of '08 models, which were just sitting on dealer lots.

As it has turned out, the '08s have cleared out quicker than expected, so that means that '09 models are now shipping.

It's interesting that Ford cleared their 08's "quicker" than they expected, yet Dodge is struggling to move their 08's to make room for their '09's and now having trouble even moving those. What gives there? Is the Ford really that much better than the Ram? I thought even the new Ram was good enough to compete head to head with both the F-150 and Silverado. Maybe it's customer perception.

I think the Dodge will always be third among the domestics - just always will. They are making a very good truck and people that have them speak highly of them / go back and buy another when it's time....they'll always be 3rd IMO.

I am one that is awaiting the F-150s arrival - very interested to see them in person. I am also one that's been very tempted by the deals on the outgoing model. But, it is kind of yesterday's news and "features" a 4spd so unless I see the perfect one at the perfect price...

Maybe they were just bluffing all along?

Neither the F-150 nor the Ram could hold a candle to the Silverado. It's been often concluded that the Chevy chassis is actually overengineered. Having driven the Silverado extensively, as well as the F-150 occassionally, I can attest to that. I haven't driven the new Ram yet, so I can't tell you if the new suspension is worthwhile. Even the diesel HD Silverado is comfortable yet stout. It's an amazing truck.

I just can't guess why they'd bluff. What would have been gained?

Does the 09 F150 offer a new or significantly improved line of V8s? I know thats what held the current F150 down in comparisons as the uplevel 5.7 Toyota, 6.0 GM, 5.6 Nissan and 5.7 Chrysler V8s crushed the Fords anemic 5.4.
