Think of it as "GM's Rumor Control." With so many rumors out there as to what is happening with the General, both good and bad, they felt there was a need to sift through all the debris and set the record straight. As such GM has launched a new web site called GM Facts and Fiction.com.

They should have called it GM Spin.

How long before they deny a rumor, that later turns out to be true?

You beat to it. I was going to call it, "GM spins it like it isn't."

Like touting only highway mpgs, like calling the proposed bailout not a bailout, etc. George Orwell would be proud...

Heh, damn, yall beat me to it. If I wanted to have someone from GM lie to me, I'd go to one of their dealerships.

Well if GM says it's so, it must be true. After all, who would know better? ;-)

Actually, it is pretty cool to have a location where folks can get official statements from GM. Bloggers are going to pin GM to the wall on this one.

AS much as I support the domestic manufacturers, I find this a little pathetic. Then again what are you going to do when the media tells the public you only build huge trucks, Toyota only builds fuel efficient cars, and dismisses your attempt to bring a fuel efficient luxury car to market as a repeat of the Cimmaron, even though the two cars are in no way alike other than the fact that they are associated with the same despised automaker?

"Then again what are you going to do when the media tells the public you only build huge trucks, Toyota only builds fuel efficient cars".

Where exactly did you read that? Everyone knew Toyota built SUVs as well as decent efficient small cars. Same with GM although GM put way more effort and focus into SUVs and trucks as at the time the profit was there. As much as Id like GM to succeed they gave themselves that reputation, the media just helped validate it. Truth hurts.
