Whoa... Where did this come from? A Murano drop-top?
Inside Line is reporting that Nissan is indeed working on such a vehicle, and it's expected to arrive in 2011. 4-door convertibles are nothing new. Lincoln offered a Continental back in the 1960s with one; and back in the earlier part of the 20th century 4-door convertibles were pretty common. So my question is: Will they offer a dual-cowl version of this? Now that would be really cool!
Future Drop Top: 2011 Nissan Murano Convertible

The Murano already has terrible visibility, I can't imagine being able to see out of a convertible.
I don't see why they should use the Murano...an Altima or Maxima would make a lot more sense.
Imagine how heavy this would be!

Imagine the body flex and price tag

Hmmmm, I dont know, maybe this thing will really hit a niche. I can see this vehicle being a lot of fun. I give Nissan props for doing this! A CUV convertible is not a bad idea....not for everyone to be sure, but this might it plenty of people RIGHT WHERE THEY WANT IT.
Ghosn had to have thought about this idea over night. lol

It sounds like they are trying not to get it too heavy, hence, the part where they are trying to get the near the gas mileage of the "coupe". As far as visibility, I would think they would design it so it was as close to the coupe in looks as possible so there would be just as much glass as existing Murano. Also, with the top down, I would think the visibility would be awesome, lol. The biggest problem that I have w/ the vehicle is the $39,000. When I saw this, I said that I've finally found something to trade my Toyota for....then I saw the price. No thank you Nissan.

You can buy a Sky and a Miata for that much. LOL
Funny about the convertible visibility with the top down. :)
I wonder what would sell more, this or the drop-top FJ?

This looks as ridiculous as the PT cruiser.
At least the Murano is huge, and still gets the same mpg as the PT cruiser.

It does look a lot like the PT cruiser but there's no way a Murano gets the same mileage.
I have a friend with one of each (neither are convertibles) and when I read this,I asked them which get better mileage.
He laughed and said the PT averages 9.0 L/100 km and the Murano is lucky to get 13 L/100km.
He likes his Murano but admits it's a gas pig. The PT has a low pressure turbo and a automatic and they drive it twice as much as the Nissan due to the price of gas.
It's almost as roomy too.

O...M...G... As if the auto industry wasn't already ridiculous.
