Images and info of the upcoming 2009 BMW 7-Series are up on the Net, ahead of the official announcement that's supposed to happen later this month. The car is scheduled to debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

The new car is expected to offer a twin-turbo gas V8 along with an 8-speed ZF automatic and a torque-splitting rear differential. Other items include upgraded radar cruise control systems, a camera-based lane departure and blind-spot warning systems, and a new night vision system with pedestrian and speed sign detection features.

Im still amazed how the Germans can make a large car that doesnt really look so large.

It ended up looking like the Hyundai Genesis, which I'm sure Hyundai doesn't mind one bit.

The upright, high-mounted snorting nostrils are reminiscent of a Maserati Quattroporte's grille, while the back is very Hyundai Genesis-like! Overall, it is fairly plain and boring, but not really handsome. If this car was an actress, it would be Maggie Gyllenhaal (sp?!?).

Certainly not a styling knockout but it will age well. I like the early 90's 7 series with the sport package, now that was a good looking large sedan.

Ahh, the Chrysler 300, ala BMW.

Pretty uninspired exterior. Sharing a tail with the 1-series is ok, but it wasn't a pretty design in the first place.

Both the S-class and the LS460 look better.
This BMW just looks like a big cheap car.

Hmmm, a twin tubo V8. And people complain big SUV's and pick ups are out of touch with today market.

At least they serve a purpose other then impressing magazine writers and people with more dollars then sense.

From what I hear this drivetrain is pretty efficient given the power and the size/weight of this car. Im pretty sure it will get better MPGs than most full size V8 powered SUVs.

Wow, BMW made a flagship that looks even more boring than the Lexus LS... actually, I think Lexus did a much better 7 series (LS) than BMW.

I really think the new design will "grow" on you. It reminds you of the CS Concept (large kidney grill, flame surfacing, large wheels, etc.) which everyone was estatic about. Interior is outstanding; stick shift is where it now belongs! Not as controversial as the E65/66 design, this car is more an evolution from the 2002 7's than a revolution.
