The production version of the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback will debut at the Paris auto show this September. The pixs above show both the base Lancer and the Ralliart version. The Ralliart will go head-to-head with the WRX, as it will be turbocharged and have AWD.
No word as to whether the EVO will get the Sportback model...

Ummm... it looks like someone chopped the back off of the sedan rather than an actual hatchback. I think they should have spent a little more time and money on the design.

The back is so raked that I don't see it having much more utility than the sedan. It can fit larger items when the seat is folded down but it can't be too long or it will hit the hatch.

I dont think the front matches the back

I thought the STI was ugly when I first saw the spy pics but in person it actually came together quite nicely sans rear lights.
This Lancer is NOT...AT ALL attractive.

You guys don't like it? I think it's a looker. Why am I always different from everyone else?
Somewhat offtopic, I saw my first Impreza sedan yesterday. Man that thing is ugly.

This picture looks better than the last one I saw, but not as good as the concept. I guess they wanted to re-use the sedan's doors though, so they couldn't go with the concept.

Agree about the concept. If they could have brought that sheet metal to production it would have made roads everywhere more attractive.

From the rear it's way too soft looking in my opinion. Almost makes it look pseudo-frumpy. I love wagons, but it just doesn't work.

a rear end only a ricer could love.

I like the looks of it but it sure gives up a lot of cargo space compared to last years SportBack.

should have made it a two door and a LOT less fastbacky. Just really doesn't fit this car well at all. That's really sad too cause it's a beautiful four-door sedan IMO.

Something got lost in translation here....I love the new Lancer bodystyle and I am a huge hatchback fan....but this thing is awkward. Maybe it will look better in person.

I personally like it. However, they could have gone with a less obnoxious rear wing.
