With all this interest and fuss about lap times at the Nürburgring, Jalopnik has posted some info and several videos of other vehicles lapping this famous track. So while the Corvette ZR1 Nissan GT-R lap times are amazing, they're nowhere near the time posted by the Porsche 956, which has lapped the 'Ring at 6:11.13.

What a combination 956 + Bellof + the Ring.
It's a real shame Bellof never got in a competitive F1 team in his brief career, but fortunatly besides this monster lap, there's 2 things that will remind us just how good he was:
1)In the 84 Monaco Grand prix, ended prematurely because of atrocious rain, he ended up 3rd, but more importantly was catching both Prost AND Senna in a big hurry, in a far inferior car (the only non turbo car in the field!).
2)Ken Tyrell said that the 2 best drivers that ever drove for his team were: Jackie Stewart...and Stefan Bellof.
