AutoObserver does a DOA postmortem

As you all know, AutoObserver recently did an editorial on vehicles to be declared "Dead on Arrival" (DOA: AutoObserver predicts future market failures ). These are new models now hitting the showrooms or are about to hit the showrooms that were planned for, designed, and engineered long before the fuel price crisis hit; and are which likely to fail because of current and expected future market conditions.

Apparently the article generated a lot of response, and as such, AO decided to do a follow up report, defending their choices, adding some new models to the list, and responding to some reader comments.

I don't care how they defend it. They are still idiots for putting the Accord on this list. And I thought the rationale for calling these vehicles "DOA" was their development which catered to a time pre-$4+. The MKS isn't going to fail because it's a gas guzzler. It will fail because it is another half-assed attempt by Ford. I hate to say it, but the upcoming Hyundai Genesis could be on this list, but it may be successful enough not to. Time will tell.

Wait...when did Kia introduce a full size SUV? By the way, I thought it was a picture of a Subaru Forester.

Yellow journalism is on the rise again. With so many media options they have to put the worst doom and gloom sensationalism out there to get your attention. So many of our problems today have been way blown out of proportion.

A lot of new cars simply had bad timing. G8, Challenger, the Buick Supers, Borrego, etc.

They rode the wave of the horsepower wars but launched their products just as that wave crashed.
