Renault-Nissan and Bajaj to offer Tata Nano-fighter

Renault and Nissan figure if Tata can build an ultra-cheap car like the Nano, so can they. So with that in mind they, in conjunction with their Indian partner Bajaj Auto Ltd., are going ahead with plans to build a car to compete in the $2500 range. Well actually it will be $3000, or so they hope, which is $500 more than the Nano.

Can they do it?..
Well, Nissan, Renault and Bajaj seem to think so. No doubt it will be challenge, especially so since the 60-year-old Bajaj Auto has never produced a 4-wheeled vehicle!

You know, I'm really glad this market is booming. I'm happy to see new cars that are actually affordable to folks on minimum wage (even if they aren't offered here). The Nano would have been a fantastic first vehicle when I was 16.
