Hmmm... Both Nissan and Renault are bring electric cars here? Think they might be the same vehicles, but wearing different badges?
The Renault version will be built in Israel, and exported here and elsewhere. Renault is hoping to have it on sale in California by 2010...
Nissan too is saying they will have an EV here for sale by 2010. Here's Inside Line's take: Nissan To Roll Out Electric Vehicle in the U.S. by 2010

Renault should just badge its US cars as Nissans. They already have Nissan and Infiniti, why bring a 3rd brand?

Agreed. Renault has no history here.

Well, it does have a history—but it's pretty bad.
Back when I was in high school, in the early 1960s, my girl friend's parents had a Renault Dauphine, a cute but miserable little car.

I lived in Quebec for a while in the 80's and there were lots of Renaults around.
Alliance
Encore
LeCar
Sportwagon
...and likely a few more that I blocked out of my mind.
They actually were interesting cars, lots of character.
Durabilty of a potato chip but they were never dull.
