Toyota to offer Stewart Signature Series Tundra

Ivan "Ironman" Stewart has long been associated with Toyota Baja race trucks. In fact Stewart has won a record 17 Baja 500 races. In addition he's the only driver to have earned both the SCORE and Unlimited Class series championships in the same year.

This new signature edition Tundra is modeled after Stewart's own personal Tundra, and will be available in two stages.  Stage 1 will have 20-inch Alcoa forged alloy wheels, General Tire AT2 All-Terrains, 5100 Series Bilstein shocks, a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust, a Hurst billet and carbon-fiber shifter, and a sequentially numbered dash plate...
Stage 2 adds Toyota Racing Development's new supercharger, which pushes the horsepower up to 504.

The trucks will be available this summer. No word yet on pricing.

Of the 17 Baja 500 races Ivan won, how many were won in a Tundra based Toyota.

Instead of a 504 HP Tundra, how about a 30 mpg Tacoma?

Why can't Toyota offer a pickup that obtains high mpg like they do in other markets with turbodiesel HiLux?

I bet these are produced in low volumes. They'll be popular.

20" rims sound ridiculous on a Baja-inspired Tundra, but they look perfectly sized in that photo. Is the Tundra really so big that it makes 20s look like 15s!?

The truck itself sounds like a winner.

How many more sheets of 4x8 fit in the bed compared to a regular Tundra?
Should go a long way to building Toyota's work truck credibility.

Are any of those Baja "trucks" based on real vehicles? I thought, no matter the brand, they are basically one off tube frame machines built in SoCal speed shops. The only thing Toyota etc on them are the stickers..

Depends. There are all sorts of racing classes, from purpose-built racers to almost stock vehicles.

ok, how about the record 17 Baja 500 races that Ivan Stewart won?

Whatever. Ivan Stewart is the man.

Ivan was a great racer in the 70's and 80's. Selling his name to a trim package now is really rather sad.
