Q Celsius snow tire with retractable studs

Everyone knows studded snow tires are great on snow and ice. Everyone also knows that these tires tear up roads, and are illegal in many areas much of the year because of that.

Now along comes Q Tires with their new Celsius retractable studded snow tire, which with a flick of a dash-mounted switch, can either retract or extend the studs in the tires. Sounds pretty neat if it delivers as promised...
The company is in the process of trying to get state and local laws changed so that this new snow tire can be successful.

Yes they did and that's where the name Q Tires came from. giving a nod to Q branch of James Bond fame.
I'd worry a bit about people not checking their tire pressures when they get low nbut I guess with TPMS they'd get a light on the dash. Hopefully the tires will be good at voiding sow and ice as spikes and/or studs alone do not make a great snow and ice tire.

30% extra cost seems pretty reasonable, too. I wonder how much they weigh?
