Full Test: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8

The wait is over. We finally have our track test numbers on the 425-horsepower Hemi V8 Challenger.

Zero to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. Quarter-mile in 13.2 seconds at 107.5 mph...

Orange you glad we finally tested the Challenger SRT8?

All right, all right, I know it's a bad joke, but I couldn't resist.

Great pictures. The only disappointment in this car is inside, I expected something more like the concept.

I'd be very interested in seeing how the Camaro runs at the test track.

I agree with you daytona
the interior really should be more special if its gonna be a throwback.
its to basic and like the charger to seem to fit with the rest of the car

Sounds like a real winner. I laughed when I heard "muscle car with traction control". The slalom speed is awfully surprising for such a behemoth. I guess it really does handle well.

How does it compare to the CTS-V? It seems like they're quite similar.

LOL! =Þ That wasn't a bad joke, Donna!

1/4-mile in 13.2 seconds - Off the top of my head, I think the BMW 135i and Subaru Impreza WRX STI could run with the Challenger.

Sad how instead of making a true pony car Dodge decided to just slap a new 2 door body on its overweight charger, even leaving the interior identical. 4100 lbs for a pony car? Way to screw this one up Dodge. It may be better than the aging Mustang, but the Camaro will put it straight to death.

Better than the mustang? Umm, I don't think so. For this price you can have a mustang plus a supercharger with money to spare. 11 second 1/4 mile all day long...

wrt the Joke: ahhahhahhahhahhahhah ;-)

wrt the car;
Come on, Edmunds staffers, let's see pictures of you drifting it. We __know__ you want to!
Wrt the review comments that it's too big, too heavy:
What should this car weigh?

all I can say is don't knock it till you drive it, when your right foot go's down you forget any short comings you thought you found.:)

The styling is dated now.

Just kidding.

Took several years so FINALLY!

The ET would be close but the MPH goes to the Challenger (107 mph). Obviously the STi would get the hole shot because of its AWD (if the driver knows how to launch correctly) but the Challenger SRT8 and the 135i would run it down and pass.

Of the 3 cars Id have to side with the 135i as it just suits me. The STi would be second as Ive always like that AWD turbocharged fury. The Challenger wouldnt even be considered, not because its a bad car it just doesnt spark my interest.
