Self-cleaning auto paint on the way

It looks like a new type of paint that resists dirt, bird dropping, tree sap, road tar, etc. is coming down the pike.

This new paint has a clear surface coat and is called Zyvere 2K Nanocoating. It relies on embedded nanotechnology to perform its scratch-resisting and self-cleaning ability...
The new paint is 53% less prone to scratches than conventional paints and remains 60% cleaner as well. It also has a gloss retention attribute that’s claimed to remain as good as new for up to five years. The nanotechnology paint will repel oil, dirt, stains, water and ice to ensure the car is as clean as possible.

Best of all, it can also be applied to alloy wheels. Anyone who's tried to clean brake-dust covered rims will really appreciate this.

5 years of gloss and then your car looks like a Fiero?

Brake dust on wheels is hard to clean? Huh? i've had a few BMWs and a Mini - they all had brake dust issues and a little bit of Eagle One takes that stuff right off.

Sounds good, and I think the military applications in the article make a lot of sense.

I bet this will never be used on Subarus. :(

The percentages don't really mean much to me. So if I blow a handful of dirt at a normal car and say 20 out of every 100 particles stick to the car, then this new paint will reduce it to 8 particles?

If you follow the link, a response to the article says that Infiniti has endowed the EX and FX series with a paint similar to this - anyone know if this is true?
