Re-unification isn't happening without some pain and drama, though. Full Throttle looks at the future for perennial Champ Car bad boy Paul Tracy. It may not be so bright. And Peter DeLorenzo at AUTOEXTREMIST has a full menu of things Tony George and company must do to restore open-wheel racing to its rightful place at the pinnacle, including encouraging alternative power sources. Remember the turbines?
Jill McIntosh says Boyd Coddington, who passed away this week, didn't always turn her crank, but when he did, it was memorable. She thinks Chezoom is one for the automotive ages.
Jalopnik reports on a guy in New Zealand who simply refused to wear a seat belt and literally paid the price.
Hey, how did the CobbTuning.com guys get their GT-R before the rest of us? It is gorgeous, though, and there are lots of photos. I think I feel the beginning of agony for not having a GT-R for myself.
And then over at Corvette Blog they're touting the availability of a brand-new white 2007 convertible for only $52,604, or more than $14,000 under MSRP. Why, oh why, did I have to take a vow of poverty to become a journalist?
They have some creative car thieves across the pond in China. Just ask a Mr. Zhang of Zilin City, who , according to 4Driversonly.com, got so fed up with the bad guys stealing parts off his Jetta that he built an iron cage for it. That's not the kicker, though. The thieves always left him a note demanding ransom money for the stolen parts, with a bank account number for the deposit!
Think you have to be a mechanical whizz or have your very own BMW technician on retainer in order to own a V-12 Seven-Series? Dorri at If It's Got An Engine ... says that's not been his experience, even though the cooling fan on his 91 did explode and put multiple holes in the radiator and a trio of unsightly dents in the hood.
And finally, courtesy of Joe Sherlock at The View Through the Windshield comes this delightful quote from Thomas Sowell: "Some of the biggest cases of mistaken identity are among intellectuals who have trouble remembering that they are not God." In case you wonder why that appears here on an auto-related blog site, just remember, it's such folks who continually come up with monstrosities like seat belt interlocks to save us from ourselves.
See ya next week, friends and neighbors!

I'm not convinced Danica Patrick is that talented. I'm inclined to think she's easily got more talent than Sarah Fisher and Milka Duno, but I think former Champ Car driver Katherine Legge has more talent than her. After all, Katherine won three races in the Toyota Atlantic series and finished 3rd in the championship in 2005. It's too bad she's going to be driving in the 2008 DTM touring car series in a 2006 Audi A4.
I'm surprised Paul "Wall" Tracy is going to be without a ride in 2008. I won't miss him much, though. That's what he gets for punting my boyhood favorite racer, Little Al, off at Belle Isle in 1994. j/k
COBB Tuning's R35's arrival may mean they got their R35 roughly the same time as jspecconnect, perhaps even earlier.
