A123 Systems charging forward on battery technology

It seems like almost every day you read about some new advances being made in battery technology. A123 Systems, a small 7-year-old company from Watertown Massachusetts, is betting their future on batteries powering future vehicles. Never heard of them? Well, they’re the folks behind the battery pack that's going into the Chevy Volt that hopefully will see production sometime in 2010...
A123's executives are hoping to essentially rewire the domestic auto industry.

"Today, we are providing enough batteries to power the equivalent of 100,000 vehicles," said Ric Fulop, one of A123's founders and its chief evangelist. "If you look at other technologies, they're still in the lab. It's years before they get into mass production."

Full story here on the A123 and the general state of the battery industry. Pictured are A123 Systems President and Chief Executive Officer Dave Vieau, front, joins Ric Fulop, one of the company's founders.
