2009 Nissan GT-R Road Trip: On the Road Again

We’re back on the road again, this time headed to the Bonneville Salt Flats. We had a great time at the dragstrip last night, but we haven’t finished getting the video together just yet. It’ll be up shortly so you can see just how fast the GT-R runs the quarter mile after a 500 mile drive slog up the interstate. Until then, we’ll be piling on the miles and wondering if the “comfort” mode is really just a cruel joke by the engineering team...

Ahh...the drive to bonneville. As you drive across Nevada, be careful of the semi's on the road...lots of them get really tired on that long slog. And when you reach Elko Nevada, hop off the freeway and try out the old highway that runs parallel to the railway. Between Deeth and Wells there is also a fantastic stretch of pavement on that road that I've never seen a cop on these last 20 years and is board flat. Just watch out for deer and floor it!

Okay, this image begs the question: There must be another support car traveling with you guys, correct? Otherwise, how did you get this photo taken?

okay, you guys should know that "comfort mode" for a performance car such as that just means that it won't knock the fillings loose from your teeth on just one bump. consecutive bumps on the other hand, well, that's another story... i'm loving the coverage! time to buy a pillow for the tush and one for the lower back. ed/scott: drive safely and have fun!!

The Japanese don't quite understand the concept of "comfort". This is why I'd opt for an Audi R8 if you want comfort.
