2008 New York Auto Show Preview: Subaru R1e

Subaru has brought over from Japan its tiny R1e, "e" meaning electric, as in "all-electric" power. Subaru and the New York Power Authority will be testing a pair of these cars this summer.

The vehicle uses a quick-charge lithium-ion battery, and has a range of 50 miles. Top speed is 65 mph...
The car can be charged to 80 percent of capacity in 15 minutes, but it takes 8 hours to do a full charge.
