2008 Chicago Auto Show: 2009 Ford Edge Sport

Although the 2009 Ford Edge Sport was hyped before the Chicago auto show opened to the media, it apparently didn't make the cut to be included in the actual Ford press conference.

Sure, it's mainly an appearance package and not a real sport package, but in a show that's running low on major debuts, we'd have listened politely to Ford executives detail the Edge's new look.

Not to dis the large front airdam or rocker sill and rear skirts, but the optional 22-inch polished wheels alone would've grabbed our attention for at least a minute or two. -- Kelly Toepke, News Editor

Now this is the kind of color that should have been on the long term Edge.

Good color, but I don't want the ride/cost/damage 22" rims will create, it's no sports car, anyway.

I like the chunky youthful styling. If only Ford could reduce the weight and give it better driving dynamics.

The rear spoiler should be bigger, you barely notice it. And ditch the heavy chrome wheels, that's not truly sporty.

The idea of a Sport package is a good one, though make it a true sport package - suspension, quicker steering, etc.
