AMG thinking diesel (again)

Mercedes-Benz in-house performance bad boys (AMG) may be considering offering high-performance diesel models. Actually, AMG has offered a diesel Benz before back in 2002. This is just one more piece of evidence that diesels are ready for a mass prime-time audience.

Speaking of high-performance diesels rumors, about a year ago I had read that ProDrive may be working on a rally version of the new Subaru diesel...
Not sure where that stands, but if true, it makes for some fascinating speculation.

Thinking? I'm somewhat surprised they haven't done it before now, considering MB's long oilburner history. I suppose it took Audi to light a fire under their stodgy backsides.

Actually they did one back in 2002. I've updated the blog with a link to that car.

Sounds interesting, but it would be a bruise to the ego for them to follow Audi.
