Are you like us? Are you still trying to figure out what a four-door coupe might be, exactly? Well, according to Volkswagen of America CEO Stefan Jacoby, the Passat CC four-door coupe is a "road runner in a tuxedo." So, we reckon that clears things right up for you.
The CC, which goes on sale near the end of the year in the U.S., is an attempt by Volkswagen to push the Passat upmarket and to make it a more "emotional" car...
Apparently inspired by this increased emotion, the folks at VW produced a video with Jacoby popping into various scenes of normal people doing normal things to ask them about what they want in a car. So there's Jacoby running on a treadmill next to a dude. There's Jacoby getting a hot dog from a street vendor and asking another customer about cars. At one point he donned a cowboy hat, because, well, why not? We're still trying to figure out if it was supposed to be funny or not.
What we do know for sure is that according to Jacoby, "I love a Manhattan hot dog, with many onions and red chiles on it." So there you have it. -- Daniel Pund, Senior Editor, Detroit

That is a good-looking car, but the BMW CS is far better executed.

Looks very nice, but I question why Volkswagen gets it. If anything, this should be the Audi A7 or something.
Another example of Volkswagen not knowing its market.

This Dasher decendant is dashing, to be sure, but I detest the general trend towards sedans that presume the rear seat occupants are 5-foot-1 or headless. Why Volvo's gone down this road concerns me even more.

I love the interior of this car but Im still not sure why VW produced this car. I think the standard Passat looks better overall.
I know this is VW's version of a 4 door coupe ala Mercedes CLS but the CLS' proportions make it look absolutely stunning. I cant say that about the VW CC.

Daytona -
I completely agree. In fact, Audi could've really used something like this priced about where this thing will end up. It would've given ES350 buyers and aspiring CLS & Jag owners something else to think about.

It's nice, for a new Passat replacement. Has a sort of been-there-done-that silhouette much like the new Hyundai Genesis and Lincoln MKwhatever. But hasn't VW already tried to do the luxury thing already?????

Looks good, great even.
But I agree - this should be an Audi. VW still doesn't get it.

They should have given it a different name. This is obviosly a different vehicle than the Passat so why not make the name different?

Not a bad looking SEDAN. I agree completely about the 4-door coupe crap. This is a sedan. I don't care what VW wants to call it, or Mercedes, or any other manufacturer who builds cars of this design. This is just another sedan, and nothing more. Well, actually it is something more.....smoke and mirrors. "Four-door coupe" has got to be the automotive oxymoron of the decade.
I agree with everyone who asked the question, "why?" VW apparently didn't learn their lesson with the Phaeton.
