Mercedes-Benz threw a little party here in Detroit while offering an early, up close look at the Vision GLK Freeside Concept. The event was so fancy we thought maybe they'd throw us out -- it's not that we're not fancy...actually we're not fancy at all. The GLK, on the other hand, is quite stylish and comes off more like a premium SUV than both the BMW X3 and Land Rover LR2.
We've seen pictures before and we already knew it's based on the C-Class wagon...
What we weren't expecting was a Bluetec version of the GLK concept. During the preview, Mercedes-Benz Chairman Dieter Zetsche spoke at length on Mercedes' commitment to diesel-powered vehicles and, given the fact that the company will soon sell Bluetec versions of the M-, GL- and R-Class, we can't blame them. Given how production ready the GLK Vision Concept looks, expect a GLK300, -350 and Bluetec to show up at your Benz dealer soon. -- Brian Moody, Road Test Editor

I agree, the GLK is definitely stylish. I cant believe there was a blog post here on Straightline that poked holes at its design elements, calling them contrasting.

It looks ok when you don't see the whole product. When you take in the whole vehicle, though, it looks...unfinished. I must say, the silver helps, though.

If everyone agreed with me on everything I post, I wouldn't be doing my job, now would I? :)

I think its a bit overstyled. There are too many creases, folds and lines. It kinda breaks up the design as a whole.

I wanna know...how much?
How much for the base model, and how much for the diesel?
Benz has priced their entries high lately (R-class). Let's see if they keep a lid on pricing here.

Its a bit to creased for me but the overall finish looks very nice. It looks expensive and it should.
