Land Rover and Range Rover to tighten up "design language"



Even though Land Rover/Range Rover is up for sale, word is out that they plan on trying to unify the design language of these vehicles.

Really? Why? I think the design language is already pretty unified...
Yeah, the Range Rover looks a bit dated when compared to the new LR2 and LR3, but I attribute that mostly to the fact that they appeal to different buyers, and the fact that they are (sort of) different brands.

Now the Land Rover Defender, that's a different animal. I don't see how they could make that vehicle look (somewhat) like the more civilian Land Rovers without losing much of its iconic character.

I think they should continue to evolve as they have always done. The signature RR styling has substanital road presence so why change it drastically?

The language is pretty unified alright. Tall, upright and boxier than a fridge.

They should stick to subtle changes. Even the LR2 has a strong family resemblance. I doubt a shocking new style would help any.
