Edmunds predicts biggest Winners, Losers and Shakers of 2007

Some are no surprise (loser: Isuzu and Hummer), other may be (loser: Scion, winner: Mitsubishi). I have to agree that the new GMC Acada and Buick Enclave are indeed industry "shakers," as I see them as pretty much the blueprint for future family-sized wagon/CUVs.

So what's your take? Do you agree with Edmunds?

As was mentioned in a story the other day, part of Mazda's increased sales can be attributed to its fleet donations. Scion is rightly falling in numbers as the new xB is way too bland with crappy gas mileage. I don't know what to think about Isuzu. It's a shame consumers are rewarding the lackluster Escape, but it goes to show you that they're willing to buy smaller, more efficient vehicles since they're snapping them up like hotcakes. There's nothing any more wrong or "anachronistic" with Hummer than there is with Jeep. If GM would give the vehicles modern powertrains it'd go a long way toward mollifying the fury at the brand's gas-guzzler status. The H3 actually doesn't achieve gas mileage very different from its truck-based peers, and would equal or beat them if it had decent transmissions.

I think Hyundai (and Kia) will be the big winner next year.
The new Accord will give Honda a big boost, but otherwise sales will fall.
Subaru might have a record year. Especially if they do the Justy.

The losers will be, in a particular order:
Isuzu
VW
Jaguar
Suzuki
Land Rover
Acura
Saab
Mercury
Ford
and maybe Nissan

I predict 2008 will be a dismal year for the industry overall, but I think Subaru will be a winner with the 09 Forester.

It's in a volume segment and Forester is their #2 volume seller, so it has tons of potential.
