What we have here are solar-powered studs that lite up at night that help define the roadway's outer edges. These reportedly have a projected lifespan of 10 years, and offer 10 times the illumination of conventional road studs. Since they aren't reflective, but are continuously lit, they offer drivers much great reaction time than conventional studs. It also appears that they can be color-keyed as needed to further enhance the safety aspect...
