This speculative image of what could be the next Nissan 240SX has been making the rounds on various car sites, raising the question is Nissan working on a replacement for this car? The rumor started with a story from a Japanese car magazine, which could mean anything from, yes this story has legs, to just wild speculation based on some water cooler gossip. So far no word from Nissan either way, which is what you would expect from a carmaker.

I have to agree, although I sure hope the car itself comes back.

I feel that's a lot of coupes for the Nissan lineup, especially with the new Skyline coming. However, if they're positioned correctly, it might work.

I kinda like it, but I prefer clean lines to over-styling. It could use a little more pizazz, and why do all the automakers debut all their new sports concepts and production models in silver? Could there possibly be a less sporty color than silver, besides maybe beige?

This could be a good segment as the only RWD sporty coupe under $25K would be the Mustang. With Hyundai offering its RWD coupe and Nissan thinking about a 240 replacement this could get nasty. Toyota reportedly has something in the works also and its RWD. Hello Honda.....hello...

I agree. I would actually consider a RWD affordable Honda sports coupe, if they would offer one. I did like the small hybrid sports coupe they previewed recently (forgot the name). I wouldn't touch whatever Toyota offers with a 10 foot stick because of reliability issues. The Hyundai Genesis coupe looks like a winner though, and their reliability seems to be improving. I'll probably just pay a little extra and go for the Camaro after a few years. Given GM's current and rumored powertrain lineup, along with Zeta's great chassis potential, it will probably be the best performing coupe in its class.

240SX? Where will you fit this car in the Nissan sports car line. The only option I can see it is a stepping stone for an Infinity G37 coupe.

Looks waayyy too similar to an Altima coupe. If they wanna make this thing, they need to give it its own styling cues. Steal some of the cues from the GTR, for instance.
Another echo from me for Honda to get in the RWD market. The new Tibby, and the (rumored) 240SX and Toyota coupe are really going to bring back the small coupe segment, IMO. Honda needs to get with the game. It'd be a perfect opportunity to bring back the Prelude... with it turning the correct wheels, of course.

I agree, too much overlap with the Altima coupe, which by the way looks a lot better.
I'd welcome any affordable RWD option, however.

I absolutely loved the Silvias. The S14s were always my favorite, particularly the last 2 years of production. If Nissan took design cues from those, it would be a big hit. Imagine the GT-R, but roughly 2/3 the hype. But Nissan will have to generate a formidible manual tranny.

I actually like this sketch a lot, and I think it looks better than the Altima coupe. However I cant see them making this, because they already have the Altima, 350Z and the GT-R. Maybe it could be a cheaper version of the G37, I dunno.

daytona, a cheaper version of the G37 would be the 350Z. The GTR is quite high up the performance ladder compared to anything else Nissan offers so I wouldnt even mention the GTR. The 350Z could move (slightly) up in performance and make room for a $25K RWD 240SX.
Then we have the Altima coupe. Yes it can be fast (3.5 SE) but I dont think that car would be considered by the same customer as the 240SX would be a RWD performance coupe. Build it Nissan!

My mom just retired her 91 240SX back in the Springtime with around 327,000 miles. Biggest repair was an Automatic tranny at about 180k and the rest was routine maintenence.
I for one, welcome the return of the affordable coupe. A new Prelude, (maybe based on the S2000) would be a welcome surprise as well.
