To date there has been surprisingly little news on the all-new 2009 Forester, which is widely expected to make its world debut at the Detroit auto show in January. The sketch , which has not been verified, suggests sort of a mini Tribeca. Be that as it may, and assuming this is close to the real deal, I'm not happy to see yet another wrong-angled (meaning poor visibility) rear quarter window. Jeez, I can't believe how everyone is following the Murano's bad design lead here; it's like sheep being lead to slaughter...

As with previous Foresters, it will share its platform with the just introduced Impreza. That would mean a longer wheelbase, which will translate into more rear passenger room, something the Forester desperately needs. Recent news (more here) regarding the Canadian version suggests similar powertrains as to what's being currently offered. I do expect a new IRS, however; again probably based on what the new Impreza is using.

I'm still waiting for a cohesive design identity for Subaru.
While it's just a sketch I see a Honda, not a Subaru.

subaru is going honda. And I think the forester is the car that sticks out the most. With the re-designed imperza, and legecy of 2 years ago. The tribeca also fits the image.

That's a car, not an SUV. Too low. I highly doubt that's the next Forester. Nothing wrong with the back quarter windows - who uses them anyway?

I like it. It blends the style of the 06-07 Tribeca with the 08 Tribeca nose, and the result is stylish without going overboard.
We'll see how accurate that is, but I like it and my wife likes it even more, so if it ends up looking like that we'll get an 09 Forester when they come out. :-)
Visibility will be an issue, but we'll probably want the GPS Navigation, which should come with a backup camera standard.
