Fiat 500 wins European Car of the Year award



The cute-as-a-bug new Fiat 500 has been voted European Car of the Year. Fiat is no stranger to this award, as they've won it 12 times before. Coming in second was the equally-charming Mazda2. To date Fiat has sold 105,000 examples of the 500, so it's clearly a hit with the European car buyers as well...

I don't get this design, either.
 
I would take a Mazda2 as well.
 
I guess they're nostalgic for this (not sure why!).

Why? Because the original '60s-era 500 (and 600, which this actually looks more like) was a much loved car in Europe, much like the Mini was.
