2007 SEMA show: On the Road to El Camino?

Nothing special about this Holden Commodore Ute hawking Australian brakes, right? Maybe not. But it was wearing Michigan Manufacturer license plates. The Michigan manufacturer that owns Holden would be General Motors.

Could the momentum built from the Aussie connection forged with the GTO and strengthed with the new Pontiac G8 be leading toward a return of the Chevrolet El Camino?

If so, would you care? I would. My first car was a "Ute" - a Ford Ranchero - and I'd buy one again. - Dan Edmunds, Director of Vehicle Testing

How ironic, Dan! I hadn't seen this blog entry before talking to you about the front brakes I put on to the car last Saturday.

These are the rotors I installed.

Yes, please, I'll take a Ute. Doubly so if it is RWD with a V8.

The Utes currently running around in Oz are RWD with V8s. Ford offers a big in-line turbo six too. And they have hot-rod SS and GT models. The Holden Utes (El Camino?) have independent rear suspension while the Ford Falcon Ute (Ranchero?) drives through a solid axle.

An IRS? Same platform as the Camaro? How much?
