During a media lunch today, Ed Peper, general manager of the Chevrolet division, announced pricing for the 2008 Tahoe Hybrid. The two-mode hybrid is set at $50,490 for the two-wheel-drive Tahoe, and $53,295 for the four-wheel model. Prices include delivery.
Chevy was eager to point out that both hybrids come with leather and navigation standard, yet are still priced below a loaded gas-guzzling Tahoe LTZ at $55,580...
We're not sure which is harder to swallow. A Tahoe hybrid or a $55K Chevy. -- Kelly Toepke, News Editor

Interesting but I would still rather see a diesel version.

Nice effort, but I'm not entirely impressed. I've sworn not stick with my bike until theres a hybrid or electric that I would feel truly comfortable driving. This is not it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these auto makers will take note and start making good on all those promises, because I really do miss getting behind the wheel.

And for that 1 year's worth of pre-tax income, I get what? 18mpg highway?

Fullsized SUVs all hit $50k.
Armada is $52k,
Sequoia is $50k,
Tahoe is $50k,
Expedition is $51k,
Durango is $45k.
Midsized family sedan prices have most of us under a spell.
All these high volume, people's car nameplates sell 50k SUVs. Except the Dodge.
So the next time you see someone in a people's nameplate full-sized SUV, know that's actually a big-ass luxury car.

Out of all the pics Ive seen of these GM hybrid utes they look awfully plain and basic. Some flash would be nice.

Well if heavy duty Chevy, Ford and Dodge trucks already cost between $50-$60K, what's the big deal about a $55K Tahoe?

Well, consider that you can buy 2 Vue Greenlines for that kind of money. And have a lot of change back.
