Even though the UAW and Chrysler reached a tentative accord, there is some strong resistance among the rank and file, suggesting that we may not be done with this yet. The fly in the ointment is that some local leaders are unhappy with the lack of specific future product guarantees and the failure to move temporary workers into permanent positions, both of which are features of the GM contract. Harley Shaiken, a labor expert from the University of California, Berkeley, said the lack of unanimous support for the Chrysler deal makes it "a situation that is murkier and more uncertain."

Auto industry analysts predict the Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Dakota, and Jeep Commander and Compass could face elimination. A company insider included those vehicles among a list of vehicles facing review. The source and another familiar with Chrysler's design pipeline also questioned the future of the Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Durango.
