UAW and Chrysler reach a tentative accord



Not sure if this strike by the UAW was the shortest in history, but if not, it must be close. The union started walking at 11:00 on Wednesday, and by 5:30 that afternoon all parties had come to terms.

"This agreement was made possible because UAW workers made it clear to Chrysler that we needed an agreement that rewards the contributions they have made to the success of this company," said UAW President Ron Gettelfinger.

"The national agreement is consistent with the economic pattern, and balances the needs of our employees and company by providing a framework to improve our long-term manufacturing competitiveness," states Chrysler President Tom LaSorda

Everyone is better off with the strike ending as soon as it did. Still, the damage is done.

I'm surprised it went that far given GM had already made an agreement, so the template was in place.
