The latest news is that there have been reported problems with the 6-speed automatic transmissions found hooked up to the 5.7L engine, and that Toyota is working on a fix. The problem is that  the truck's torque converter not disengaging properly during gear changes. The solution is to replace the torque converter...
Toyota claims it is not a design or safety issue. This could affect as many as as 100,000 vehicles. Good grief...

We're not done folks. There's an online petition to Toyota Motors USA about failing Tundra tailgates.

Thats sucks for them, its going to hurt the reputation what's been an otherwise successful truck. In the long run though I dont think it will affect anything major.

What's Toyota's annual recall count up to now, 1.3 mil?

By now I think it is actually easier to keep track of what vehicles Toyota hasn't recalled yet.

"Keep moving forward"

While not defending toyota. Because this there doing... Being the top dog in quality or appearance of.. means every mistake you make its blown up... however we are getting a rash of these toyota recalls lately. I wonder how many they managed to hide.

That's really too bad I guess for the people who think Toyota is perfect ... the truth of the matter is there is a very good reason the Nissan Titan is the #1 rated truck for QUALITY and VALUE by Strategic Vision. Tundra looks tough, but it's not.

The worst part is going to be the resale values. Who wants a truck with this many recalls?

Estreka, you could look at the angle that by the time they're done with the recalls, the entire truck will be almost completely rebuilt from the ground up. Its like you're getting a truck half its age! See, I beat Toyota to the positive spin.

Toyotas are horrible.
Buy from the brand that makes the highest quality vehicles.
The 2008 Honda Ridgeline.
And hey, it's a Honda.

billt9, that only works if you don't need a real truck. The Ridgeline is basically a very large crossover with the back end cut open, very different from a true truck. But true, besides the Ridgeline Edmunds had for a long term test that blew out all four shocks when off-roading, I haven't heard of any major problems with them.

And you can only take the Ridgeline on very mild dirt roads. Why? Just take a peak underneath. You'll see that the exhaust pipe is positioned UNDER the rear suspension arm so that would be the first thing that comes into contact with rocks etc. It could very easily be crushed/damaged. All the real trucks have this pipe over the suspension, and thus out of harm's way.
This really lame routing can also be seen on the Pilot and MDX. Basically minivans dressed to look like SUVs.
