It came down to the last race of the season. Three men battling for the title.
Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen will forever be known as World Champion after winning the Brazilian Grand Prix. He finished the season with 110 driver points...
McLaren's rookie sensation Lewis Hamilton and his teammate two-time World Champ Fernando Alonso finished 2nd and 3rd on the season.
They say that rookies don't win world championships and Lewis Hamiton was no exception to the rule. He blazed through the season like he didn't know he could lose. But toward the end of the year, the rookie jitters started to show.
In yesterday's race, he was a little overanxious and went hard over some curbs, temporarily damaging his car. He suffered gearbox problems and slowed down just long enough to get passed by many other hungry racers. He was never able to climb high enough in the pack to earn enough points for the title.
But, Kimi deserved to win. Not only is he one of my personal faves, he won more races than any other driver this season. And he is the Ice Man, afterall. He kept his cool and took home the big prize.
I can't wait until next year.

I'm fine with Kimi winning the championship. I feel bad for Lewis. :( At least Fernando didn't win it. I can't stand that guy -- maybe even more than Michael Schumacher after what he did this year.

Poor Lewis, wasnt he leading the standings most of the year? Still what an amazing rookie year for him, like 4 wins and so many podium finishes. I saw him win his first race of the year at Melbourne, where he dominated the race and won from the pole, I remember him having like a 10 second lead once.
Hey Donna how about more NASCAR coverage? This is an American site so I'm surprised its not up already. I'm not saying cover all 36 races, but include stuff like about the Daytona 500, Brickyard 400, All Star Challenge, and the season finale at Homestead. I was surprised that Juniors new number, 88 wasnt blogged on.

Hmmm. That last sentence above was poorly constructed.
After what (Fernando) did to his own team this year, I can't stand him. I might even dislike him more than Michael Schumacher.
That's better! :o) It would sure be nice if we could edit our comments again.
