It's a crossover that drives like a sport coupe.
The new Infiniti EX35 has a 297-horsepower 3.5-liter V6, a 5-speed automatic transmission and a sport-tuned chassis. It could make running errands seem like play time.

$45k, yikes!
$33k for starters ain't too bad, I suppose.
I also wish the Rogue/FX/Murano/EX has more practical, boxier rear halves.

I was surprised there was no mention of the Acura RDX as a competitor in the article. They seem closer matched than the X3 ( I realize that is the benchmark). I do think the Acura would be a better choice, fully loaded at around $37K, only .5 sec off 0-60 and a lot more space.

All the glowing comments re. pace and handling should be tempered with the fact that the version Edmunds tested was the rear wheel drive 3820lb version. The loaded AWD version weighs a humongous 5029lbs!!! One thousand two hundred pounds more....
All BMW X3s come with AWD standard so the AWD version of the Nissan should be compared. Now that the twin turbo motor will be offered in the BMW, the outcome may not be as implied in the article.

Desmo, I think you may have your numbers wrong. How could the AWD version be so much heavier than the RWD version. I can see maybe 4029 but certainly not 5029 as thats big ute territory.

I may have, it sounds riduclous but I got them from Edmunds' article:
"Naturally there are some consequences with the EX's new shape when it comes to weight, but the 3,752-pound version of the rear-wheel-drive model is just 255 pounds heavier than a rear-wheel-drive G35, and the fully equipped 5,029-pound all-wheel-drive EX35 AWD "

I truly hope thats a misprint as 5000+lbs is HUGE!
I actually like this vehicle better than the G35 and the RDX. I do like how the RDX drives but the EX35 comes across much more upscale in temrs of styling. As usual with Nissan/Infiniti products, I HATE the rear end.

I was just going to comment about the 5029 lbs thing because thats frankly impossible! 5029 is closer to the weight of the Pathfinder or QX56 if anything. Im sure they meant 4029 lbs.
I too was surprised of no mention of the RDX or MKX. And after seeing that warm chocolatey interior, I think there might be a new standard in the small luxury SUVs category. I just wish the steering wheel was in the same color.

Too bad the things looks like a snow shoe in person. It's a height-thing...the Volvo XC70 analogy was spot-on. Why Infiniti didn't have the guts to just make a G35 wagon is beyond me, particularly since the EX, FX, and G use the same bits & the target for the G35 (the 3-series) offers a (slow-selling) wagon. Presumably they'll sell a few more of these things than they would have a wagon, but jeez! I'm not sure how.

There are lots of typos like that in Edmunds articles. There's no way that it weighs 5k pounds with AWD unless they just started welding cast iron to it en masse. 4029 is well within the realm of possibilities and seems much more likely.

Add a few tweaks, a V8, and a trunk, and we'd have the new Q45. Honestly, change the rear end just a little bit, add a trunk, it would be a big sedan.

i think this is almost as useless at the bmw x6
yet they will still sell lots of them
it does have a nicer interior than the g35

Why is this vehicle, smaller than a G35, more expensive than a G35?
I've never seen a crossover smaller than its sedan counterpart... amazing.
Maybe it's a premium for rear seats that actually fold down.

or the nicer, higher quality interior...

Thanks Donna. Then maybe this should be fixed in the article?
