Comparison Test: 2008 Audi R8 vs. 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8

You may think we're starting to pull comparison tests out of our hats, but not so. These two vehicles have more in common than you would think at first glance.

They are both all-wheel drive, both have V8 engines and both are rated at 420 horsepower...

A very odd matchup for sure, but at least there are similarities. I would rather have seen the Grand Cherokee SRT8 go up against the Cayenne Turbo or the ML63 AMG however, that would be a nice battle.

Never really cared for the Grand Cherokee in any form but its hard to ignore its performance. Now the R8 is a whole different level. This car is just BEAUTIFUL, at any angle, inside or out! It seems to be one of those few cars that is just good at everything.

I just liked the article because it's different than normal comparison tests. Enthusiasts should love this article because it's that classic "which car's better" question.

Interesting comment re the differences in the dyno. Couldn't Edmunds have pursued their theory just a teensy bit further by putting some "race" gas into both vehicles, then run them on the dyno again?
They sell the stuff in a few places in SoCal, one in Santa Monica and one in Agoura.

Wow, my gut instinct was right. I'm glad the R8 didn't combust in the middle of your comparison.

Great article but for fun per $ the Jeep has it. AND believe it or not I have 3 friends. Ok, OK, I'll admit it, its my wife and 2 dogs but they dont fit in the R8.

C'mon! Edmunds is happy to just say maybe Audi's low numbers are from bad gas w/o following up on it??? Booo! I say, boooo!

Here are some places:
1/ Union76 station at the Chesboro exit off the 101 fwy in Agoura.
2/ SoCo on Pioneer in ElCajon
3/ Alliance station on the corner of Los Angeles Ave and Patricia St.
4/ ARROYO PARKWAY 76
155 E GLENARM ST PASADENA
5/ Norco 76 Service (Unocal 76 station)
2807 Hamner Avenue, Norco
6/ Los Angeles/Santa monica
76 Gas station
Courner of barrington and pico 1 block N of the 10 freeway
