No, this is not some far out concept to debut at the Tokyo auto show. Nor is it a reject from the Jetsons TV show. Nope, it's the Aptera diesel-hybrid which claims to get 330 mpg, and has a drag coefficient of 0.055-0.06. In actual testing of a prototype, it got "only" 230 mpg at 55 mph...

I have felt for as a long time that this combo is a better answer; best of both worlds etc - maybe even run the diesel on veggie oil or something like that. I hope this combo becomes a trend - of course it'll have to be a a more realistic package. The mpg would be lower but it would still be pretty high.

I'd like to see the powertrain make it in to a real-world vehicle, i.e. one with bumpers and that met car safety standards.
That looks like an egg on wheels.
