2007 Tokyo Auto Show: No Lexus LF-A. No Acura V10.

Word on the Tokyo auto show floor is that the Lexus LF-A supercar is a no show because it's not fast enough. Lexus wants it to reach 350 kp/h but it'll only touch 330 kp/h. That's 205 mph. Seems fast enough to us, but Lexus wants the LF-A to be faster than all its rivals...

To reach the mark, Lexus has put the car back on the drawing board for an aerodynamics redo.

Acura is in a similar situation with its V10 supercar. Acura wants the front-engine coupe to be a grand tourer. Think Acura DB9. But the car's styling got a thumbs-down from the public at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show when it was shown as the Acura Advance Aero Coupe. It too is getting reshaped.

Which will be the fastest around the Nurburgring racetrack in Germany is the real question. Nissan's GT-R just lapped the place in 7 minutes and 38 seconds. Lexus and Acura want to beat that mark. It'll be a three-way shoot-out for King of the Ring honors and it should be fun. We'll keep you posted. -- Scott Oldham, Inside Line Editor in Chief

I think the new Corvette ZR-1 will kick all their butts.

King of the Ring. That sounds like a pay-per-view special!

I wish Acura had just stuck with the HSC concept. With some minor tweeking, it would've looked really good. If they are for sure going to go with an FR drivetrain, they should base it off an extended S2K chassis.

I second that estreka.

Estreka, as good as the S2000s chassis is Im not to fond of chassis sharing especially in this class of car as compromise will hurt performance somewhere.

Im truly sad that Honda will wimp out and give us a "mushy GT" instead of a direct replacement for the NSX. The NSXs formula changed the game back in 1990 so why not refine the original formula? This idea works for 2 performance icons, the 911 and Corvette.

I have a better idea. Why not make the GT for Acura but give the Honda brand its OWN aggressive MR sports car?

The LF-A is there somewhere as TOV (Temple of VTEC) has a few shots of it.

i concord whith you hondacura4,its almost a sad ending for the amazing heritage that was the nsx flagship.
but i think the problem resides exactly on this, heritage, when people thinks on high level sport 2 seaters they think european or american not japanese,so in that logic why pay for a expensive honda?
BYE A VETTE OR A PORSCHE AFTER ALL IS A HONDA ,THATS HAVES NO RESPECT ON THE EXPENSIVE SPORT CAR BUYER CIRCLES.
i now because i have drove one ,and i live in japan, that this car its a almost perfect example of what a everyday supersports should be ,here this car got the respect that deserves, but on the pricelevel he is ,you could bye a carrera 4 whith a more powerful engine and a more showin badge!
so the logic goes like this even here!
nsx buyers are honda apreciators or race pilots or people who have money enough to have more than 2 sport cars in the garage.
on that point of view honda is going the logic way a grantourer is more easy to sale than a 2 seater.well, unles one whith the acurahonda badge on the bonnet.

corvettes shouldnt be in the discussion. i don't think that that's the intended competition for this car. especially if it's priced at 100,000+
