Just yesterday, we participated in a roundtable discussion with Honda CEO Takeo Fukui. To no oneâs surprise, Fukui said Honda has big plans for its Integrated Motor Assist hybrid system. At the top of the list is a new dedicated hybrid car that will go on sale in 2009. He described the new car as sporty, incredibly efficient and inexpensive compared to Hondaâs current hybrid models...
Today at the Tokyo auto show, Fukui presided over the introduction of the CR-Z concept. Itâs small, sporty and would probably be pretty efficient if it had a hybrid drivetrain. Fukui certainly seemed to think so, and although he didnât say the CR-Z was Hondaâs next hybrid, he did say that a production version of the CR-Z was definitely in the works. Not very hard to connect those dots. -- Ed Hellwig, Senior Editor, Inside Line
