UAW contract talks may not finish by Friday's deadline

Word on the street is that contract negotiations between Detroit automakers and the UAW may not be completed by Friday's deadline. As you might have guessed, there is still some haggling over health care, as to how to fund it, etc.

So what does that mean? Well, there are several options open: One, they could continue to work under the existing contract until everything is resolved...
Another being that he union could call a strike. Or, the car companies will shut down and lock their doors. Most close to the situation think the latter two options are unlikely.

Strike is unlikely to work, as they have enough supply of most domestic cars that it wouldn't even hurt most models, in fact it might give them time to clear 2007 inventory and help them.
