Spy photos: 2009 Jaguar XF-R test mule spotted

With the 2009 Jaguar XF sedan officially out of the bag, we can now turn our attention to the upcoming Jaguar XF-R, a top-of-the-line sports model that will sit above the supercharged version of the standard model. Test mules spotted recently in Death Valley may have been wearing S-Type bodywork, but the XF nose job suggests these prototypes were testing a new engine configuration. Most rumors point toward a supercharged V8 with a larger displacement than the 4.2-liter engine used in the standard XF. That engine produces 420 horsepower, so expect at least 500 from the upgraded motor...
That won't be all, of course, as these prototypes were also sporting bigger wheels and tires, drilled brake rotors and quad exhaust pipes. Look for an official debut of the Jaguar XF-R early next year.

Those rims look out of place on a high-end Jaguar. They remind me of the 03 Forester XS' wheels, or the current GTI.

Who cares about how crappy the wheels look? This is only a test mule after all. Hopefully the final product will have something more tasteful.
